Ukmedix has recently seen research that shows that by taking care of your diet, you are taking care of your heart. The secret to a healthy heart is to restrict the calorie intake and to eating a healthy nutrititious food. The research conducted and organised by the Calorie Restriction Society went as far as to say that by following these guidelines you could take fifteen years off the age of your heart.
The research was based on individuals who generally eat between 1400 and 2000 calories daily and the age range of participants was between 25 and 50 years of age. This low calorie group are adherents of the principle that by reducing calorie intake you will stay healthy. They also promote ways of eating nutritious food within the calorie limit that they set for themselves. Typically a normal developed world diet consists of between 2000 and 3000 calories daily.
The research done on the Calorie Restriction Society participants showed that on scanning their hearts they looked about 15 years younger than normal for their age and much less aged compared to people who consume a normal western diet which contains a lot of manufactured and processed food with added salt, sugar and other additives while neglecting the essential fruit and veg.
The Calorie Restriction Society said that this research proved that calorie restriction was very important for the maintenance of health and weight and that the western style of eating huge portions was dangerous and extremely bad for you.
