Ukmedix Newsroom Says Drink Green Tea

green tea very slightly increases the process of thermogenesis

In the Ukmedix Newsroom we have banned coffee and we only drink green tea. This was no easy decision to take and there were howls of protest when it was first mooted by the editor but his determination has paid off. After all the information that was received about the benefits of green tea and how it could have a small but significant impact on health it was decided to have a trial run of one month.

Ukmedix Newsroom Says Drink Green Tea

The results are that the whole newsroom has given up coffee completely now and swears by the health benefits of green tea. Studies that we’ve seen at Ukmedix News show that green tea very slightly increases the process of thermogenesis which is the heat created when food is digested. Not only this but green tea does not contain the same levels of caffeine that coffee does and thus does not produce the highs and lows of energy that heavy coffee drinkers have.

One particular research project done by the University of Connecticut a saw a possible link between green tea actually blocking the absorption of fat in the digestive system. The research which was done on laboratory rats observed that the ones who had been genetically modified with an obesity gene put on less weight when they had an extract from green tea put into their food. The research which was published in the respected Journal of Nutrition also noted lower cholesterol levels in these rats.

The researchers also examined the effect of caffeine on the thermogenesis process and noted that there was not the same effect that was produced with the green tea extract. They even tried to see whether the banned weight loss medication ephedrine could increase the thermogenesis levels and but the results were still insignificant.

A word of warning however is that drinking green tea will only have a very minimal effect on your weight over a long period and thinking that you can actually shed pounds by drinking green tea alone is a waste of time. Green tea can nevertheless improve your digestion, your well being and is rich in healthy antioxidants which have been linked to improved general health in many other different studies.

I have just discovered that the green tea you buy from supermarkets is not made in China like the ones you buy from Chinese shops. I was told this after I bought some green tea from a chinese shop so I do not think she was making it up. does any one have some info on this?
