Tomatoes Could Be An Appetite Suppressant

results were definitely significant and therefore merited further research

According to a Reading University researcher the inclusion of the humble tomato in your diet can have a significant impact as an appetite suppressant thus reducing the chances of you indulging in unhealthy snacks. The research was done by adding various fruit and vegetables to white bread sandwiches and questioning the women participants who ate them. The women who were all of a normal weight were given white bread cream cheese sandwiches either with carrots and tomato enriched bread. The results showed that the tomato bread produced the most appetite satisfaction.

Tomatoes Could Be An Appetite Suppressant

Dr. Julie Lovegrove who led the research explain that despite the study being very small the results were definitely statistically significant and therefore merited further research. The next step is to work out whether the consumption of tomatoes actually adjusts the levels of ghrelin which is an appetite inducing hormone.

Whatever the case there has been tons of research which shows that tomatoes have many other benefits including high levels of antioxidants, fibre and vitamin C. The great thing about tomatoes is that they can be added to so many different meals and they are among the tastiest fruits around. It is also worth noting that Mediterranean diets always include loads of tomatoes and that the Mediterranean people are arguably the healthiest people in the world.

We have often argued at Ukmedix News that simple proactive and positive changes to your diet can have a large impact over time and possibly all you need to do to lose weight is make a promise to yourself that you will consume at least five tomatoes a day.

Make sure that you only eat the best quality tomatoes because there is a huge gulf in the difference between the various types on offer. If you are going to eat a lot of tomatoes then make sure that you get the best!

Mavis we are talking of fresh tomatoes, cooking them reduces most of the vitamins and atioxidents.
