Time magazine’s Issue on 9th of August, 2009 was headlined “Why Exercise Won't Make You Thin" and has drawn howls of protest from weight loss experts all around the world who say that the author’s research was weak and that he was selective in which evidence he chose to present and which he chose to leave out.

The gist of John Cloud’s article was that getting exercise was a waste of time for losing weight and that even by getting a lot of exercise every day it wouldn’t make much difference to our overall calorie burning. He gave very little emphasis to the fact that there is evidence that exercise can reduce rates of heart disease, diabetes and obesity and instead argued that people who exercise merely eat more to compensate, which he said could lead us to becoming more overweight because we exercise. In his case he argues that he eats more on days that he exercises which he says completely negates the point of going to the gym in the first place.
Actually while Mr Cloud may feel hungrier after exercising the opposite is true of many people both obese and of normal weight. In the majority of cases exercise is actually a useful tool in suppressing hunger pangs.
At Ukmedix News we are not going to go into every single point he made to debunk the idea that exercise is good for weight loss but we just want you to look around you and use your common sense. Exercise as we have often pointed out is not just purely about burning calories but is also part of a healthy lifestyle, which improves not only the functioning of the body but also the functioning of the mind.
Exercise in itself can motivate you to be more careful about your diet. The simple fact of seeing your body looking good and in shape when working out at the gym is an image that stays with people when making food choices and which influences them to eat healthy.
Ukmedix News believes that the respected and famous Time magazine should be more discerning about giving prominence to articles that are frankly a load of rubbish.

What a load of rubbish!!!!! If Time Magazine cannot choose its articles wisely it should pack up!!! I am an exerciser and it has helped me to eat healthily and I have now lost 4 stone or 70lbs. I never used to excercise and I used to try all sorts of diets but never succeeded before.
