Manuel said that the wedding banquet will be a low calorie diet

A Mexican, Manuel Uribe who at one point took the record for being the world’s fattest man is getting married! Manuel who no longer holds the record after having lost almost half of his original body weight is tying the knot with his long time girlfriend who he has been engaged to for two years.

The Half Tonne Man Getting Married

What is incredible about Manuel is that at one time he weighed 590 kilos or 1300 lbs and yet he never suffered from high blood pressure or heart disease. He has an incredibly rare genetic makeup which meant that despite having this huge obesity problem he did not suffer from the most common obesity related diseases.

Many doctors were astounded that he could even still be alive weighing well over half a ton and he has been confined to his bed for years being unable to move his huge body mass. These days Manuel is a shadow of his former self weighing a considerably lighter but still enormous 240 kilos or 590 lbs.

Manuel said that the wedding banquet will be a low calorie diet and that while initially it was to be a small wedding, following sponsorship from TV stations and media publications the wedding has grown into a big party. Manuel doesn’t appear to be too embarrassed about his weight and has regularly given interviews to magazines and TV stations about his unusual lifestyle.

At his peak weight Manuel claims that he was even contemplating suicide but following weight loss and after finding the love of his life he said that he only has to thank God for his good fortune. Manuel is in fact extremely lucky because the vast majority of people who weighed as much as he did would have become seriously ill. The fact that he is still alive and able to get married is a testament to his unlikely and rare gene structure.
