It's incredible how worked up people can get arguing about the benefits and merits of their own diets. Some people swear that the only way to lose weight is to go on and low-carbohydrate diet while others reckon that there is a load of rubbish and that the best way forward involves a low fat diet. Other people talk about the Mediterranean diet as being God's natural diet and others harp on about how they lost masses of weight when they became vegetarians.

Well what's our opinion at Ukmedix News? What diet do we reckon is the best for weight loss? The first bit of advice we would give you is to throw out all your diet books because if it's so complicated that you need to read a book to understand it, it's just not worth doing. Clinical evidence shows that the more complicated a diet more likely it is to be useless and ineffective.
The second bit of advice from us is to remember that the most effective diets are the ones which are practical, simple and sustainable. You have to pick out a way of eating which works for you. For example if you just can't live without pasta a low-carbohydrate diet will never work for you and you will always feel miserable and suffer from cravings. If on the other hand you rarely crave carbs and you have a sweet tooth you should focus your indulgences in this area.
The world's most effective diet is portion control. Obviously we would advise you to eat healthily but you could pretty well eat anything you like provided that you don't be too much of it. There are a lot of simple tricks to manage portion control such as not putting too much on your plate, waiting ten minutes before going for seconds and eating slowly.
It might seem ridiculous to you but the above three simple tips are probably more effective for weight control and weight loss than all of the diet books ever written in the world!
