And the winner of the Ukmedix News Most Stupid Diet for 2011 is...drum roll...fanfare... The Champagne Diet!!

There were plenty of contenders this year for this most coveted award but the sheer minded stupidity of the idea that drinking champagne could actually contribute to weight loss definitely must go down as one of the dumbest weight loss ideas ever!
To give you a little bit of detail about the Champagne Diet it actually allows you to eat whatever you like and specifically says that there are no forbidden foods! Not only this but it recommends that you only eat glamorous foods. Cara Alwill Leyba who is the inventor of this diet said that it was important that you only put the best into your body and that she really believed that by eating classy food you would value your body more and that you would be less likely to overeat.
At Ukmedix News we have no problem with drinking the odd glass of champagne and even drinking a lot of it on special occasions but the idea that you should focus your eating habits around champagne just does not make sense.
This sort of diet is the sort of diet that people who hate taking responsibility for their actions and their weight follow. It looks simple to follow, it tells you that you can eat what you want and it will almost certainly not make you lose weight.
If you think that your life is going to change and that you will seriously be able to manage your escalating weight by following the Champagne diet you should get your head checked out. You should remember that statistically it has been shown that people who go on complicated diets and read diet books are much more likely to fail in their weight loss attempts than those people who just take sensible medical advice and make common sense changes to their eating habits.
All you need to do is eat more fruits and vegetables, stay away from too much fatty food, consume smaller portions and get a little bit of exercise. It really is that simple!
