Fat Admirers actually desired a whole range of different body weights
According to The Journal of Sex Research some men actually prefer fat women over those of a normal healthy weight. This group of men who are called “Fat Admirers” are physically and sexually attracted to overweight women and actually tend to prefer many different female body sizes as opposed to just focusing on one body type. The research which was led by Viren Swami, a professor of psychology at the University of Westminster in the UK shows that some men reject the “sociocultural norms” of what is considered to be attractive in a woman.
The research was done by recruiting volunteers at special Fat Admirer events and asking them to give their opinions on ten different photographs of women of different sizes. They were specifically asked if they could identify the woman they found the most attractive and also the fattest and thinnest women that they considered to be attractive. The Fat Admirers gave the best score to a photo of a woman who had a BMI of 29.24 meaning that she was almost obese.
A control group of men not recruited from Fat Admirer events was also set up to look at the photographs and rather worryingly the most popular woman had a BMI of 18.45 which actually means that she was underweight. The overweight and very overweight women tended to be rated extremely negatively in the control group. Another interesting finding from the study was that the Fat Admirers also rated extremely thin and underweight women with BMI’s of less than 15 as being attractive too which led to researchers to believe that Fat Admirers actually desired a whole range of different body weights in women.
There is no doubt that men arrive at a perception of what they consider to be attractive because of social and media conditioning. In African countries for example overweight women are deemed to be far more attractive than in more weight conscious countries like Italy or Australia. The problem with being very overweight or underweight is however more than just a cosmetic issue about attractiveness because it is very unhealthy to have very high or very low BMI’s.
You should always strive to have a healthy BMI because it is the healthiest way to be and not because of any other reason.

It is an old genetic thing in men- big women in the caveman days were essential.

I'm an "FA," which means I prefer larger women over skinny women. I've been an FA since adolescence and have been involved in the culture for a long time.
