It is well known that a lack of sunlight and the cold can make people lethargic, listless and depressed and with all this snow in the UK some people may start to suffer from depression, but we have plenty of advice for you at Ukmedix News to make sure that you stay on top of your game!

Firstly, get moving. Just because it's cold doesn't mean that you don't need to exercise. In fact in order to beat the cold you need to exercise even more than usual. Get your body moving, go for a run or go down to the gym and definitely don't just sit at home moping around using the cold as an excuse to stay in. If you get exercise you will warm up the extremities of your body. You'll feel the heat in your hands and feet and you will stay warmer for much longer than those people who don't exercise.
The other benefit of exercise is that it increases levels of the hormone serotonin which can be depleted by a lack of sunlight. It can become a vicious circle where you get depressed because of the lack of sunlight, which in turn makes you not want to go to the gym and so on. You need to break this cycle and make an extra effort to push yourself into exercise when the days start to get shorter and colder and there is very little sunlight around.
You also need to be aware that healthy foods can promote feelings of wellbeing too. For example eating a balanced diet with the required amount of omega-3 fatty acids and also the Tryptophan amino acid have been shown in clinical trials to have a positive impact on the way we feel. Eat a lot of healthy soups full of fruits and vegetables and you should not only warm up but feel good too.
don't let the cold weather get to you. If you don't keep an eye on diet and exercise habits, winter could leave you with poor sleep patterns, concentration problems and a lack of motivation all of which are signs of depression.
