The latest weight loss warning to reach the Ukmedix News Team concerns a product called Relacore which markets itself as a natural dietary supplement but in fact has a number of undeclared prescription compounds in it which could be dangerous to certain men and women.

The warning which comes from the Health Sciences Authority which regulates the sale of medicine in Singapore noted that two otherwise healthy adults between the ages 20 and 30 had suffered from confusion, hallucinations, extreme anxiety and an abnormal heart rate. They were admitted to hospital but after a period of observation were released with a firm warning not to use the dangerous slimming medication again.
One of the compounds found in the Relacore supplement was the compound sibutramine. There is nothing wrong with sibutramine and it is in fact a licenced medication but it must be taken with a proper prescription and only on clear medical advice. The reason for this is that it can interact with other medications and it is also not to be used by some people for example if you have elevated blood pressure or heart problems. The Singapore health authorities put out a warning to the effect that anybody who had used this product should immediately discard it and get a medical checkup.
It appears that this Relacore medication is sold over the internet and the packaging listed a whole lot of ridiculous claims such as that the product contained in a stress mitigating compound as well as belly fat and stress control compounds. To make matters even more complicated the Health Sciences Authority in Singapore said that the product taken by the two individuals admitted to hospital could in fact be a counterfeit version of the illegal weight loss medication Relacore thus making it even more dangerous. The Health Sciences Authority went on to say that anybody buying weight loss medication without a prescription was putting themselves in great danger.
