Red Wine Link To Good Hearts Confirmed

it can negate the harmful effects that a high fat diet causes the liver.

People who drink a lot of red wine are often heard to say that it is extremely good for them and their hearts. The French who probably drink more red wine per capita than any other nation have lower statistics for the problem of coronary heart disease than the United Kingdom despite having a similar consumption of saturated fats. Doctors sometimes call this the “French Paradox”.

Red Wine Link To Good Hearts Confirmed

Researchers have often speculated that the reason French people have better hearts is because the red wine contains a chemical called resveratrol which is found naturally in grapes. Studies done on this resveratrol compound show that it can negate the harmful effects that a high fat diet causes the liver.

A new study done with resveratrol that we have read at Ukmedix News shows the connection between resveratrol and aging and makes clear that it may be able to have an effect on the genetic triggers that cause ageing and thus it may protect the heart from getting old. The researchers saw that when mild doses of resveratrol were given to middle aged mice it mimicked the influences that a very low calorie diet produced. This type of caloric restriction diet has a full range of different foods but tends to be as much as 30 percent lower in calories. People who follow a very low calorie diet tend to have longer life spans and a very low incidence of cancer and diabetes and obviously never suffer from obesity.

The researchers went on to say that the resveratrol in wine is just one of the many healthy compounds which are known as polyphenols that are found in wine. The researchers who were led by Prof Richard Weindruch from the University of Wisconsin-Madison concluded that a glass of wine or taking supplements that contain very small doses of resveratrol could have a significant effect on the slowing of the ageing process of your heart.
