there is no such thing as puppy fat

If you are a parent you should read the following article. You should be aware that you will probably have the biggest single influence on the future health of your children and the decisions you make regarding what they eat up to the age of ten will determine whether or not they live unhealthy lives or whether they die young due to heart disease and diabetes brought on by obesity.

Puppy Fat Is Dangerous

It can be extremely difficult for parents to deny children unhealthy but tasty food. All parents like to spoil their children but if they do this and let them eat unhealthily they could be setting themselves up for life of misery ahead. Statistically if a child is obese at the time he or she reaches teenage years he or she is likely to remain that way for the rest of their lives.

One of the biggest fallacies around when it comes to overweight children is that their weight is just “puppy fat”. This is an extremely dangerous thing to take for granted because researchers show that there is no such thing as puppy fat and that overweight children are simply just overweight and therefore eating too much or not getting enough exercise.

By allowing your children to be overweight you start to encourage psychological problems which lead to low esteem and possibly even eating disorders. Girls are very susceptible to eating disorders if they are overweight at the age of twelve. Very overweight and obese children can even develop type two diabetes which is likely to shorten their life spans considerably.

Doctors are increasingly becoming aware that parents need to deal with the eating habits of their children early on so to install a good discipline into them. Parents must also lead by example so that their children see them eating healthily too.
