Spice Girl, wife of David Beckham and Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham has had enough about people writing things about her weight in the tabloid press and has come to a decision to sue a UK magazine which claimed that she had been using diet medication to keep herself in shape.

The tabloid magazine Now claims that she had got her sister to get the tablets in the United Kingdom and bring them to her in L.A. where she now lives. The magazine did not speculate about which diet pills she was using or whether they were the legal prescription medications Reductil, Acomplia and Xenical which are legally allowed to be sold in the United Kingdom.
Victoria Beckham is said to be very angry about the allegation because she takes great pride in her status as a role model to young people. Teenagers who look up to Victoria Beckham might be tempted to try weight loss medication themselves if they believed that she was using it. Normal weight people should not use diet medication and should not be prescribed Acomplia, Reductil or Xenical as it is in fact for people who have a serious weight problem and who have been unable to lose weight normally.
A couple of years ago Kate Winslet successfully sued a media organisation after allegations were made that she had visited a weight loss clinic and that she was battling to keep her self in shape.
Victoria Beckham is extremely skinny and there have been reports that she is in fact underweight and that she should eat a little bit more to look healthier, however this does not mean that she has been using weight loss medication and it is likely that she will win substantial damages in court as a result of these unproven allegations.
