Plenty Of Size Encouraging People To Become Fat

obesity is likely to have a big impact on their quality of life

Hot on the heels of FunPie.com, another dating website which specifically targets overweight and obese individuals has come under fire from health experts because they say it is promoting the culture of the normalisation of obesity. The Plenty of Size web site has a picture of the plus size model Emma Dunn on its home page and she has been chosen as the face of the site.

Emma, who has worked with Jordan on her underwear collection, said that she was happy with her size and was hoping to meet some new people, something she found difficult because she was a single mum. A spokesperson for Plenty of Size said that their website was not "encouraging or condoning obesity" and that they were merely just providing a much needed service for overweight individuals.

Many people argue that there is nothing wrong with being overweight and that it should not be considered to be a social stigma.  They argue that if people want to be overweight and eat more than other individuals then why should anybody else have a say in it.

In fact, the only reason why obesity should not be encouraged is because it is just unhealthy and could lead you to suffer from chronic disease. People who are obese are much more likely to suffer from cancer, heart attacks, strokes and diabetes and it is important that this information is promoted because after all people have the right to know.

In the majority of cases people lose weight purely for cosmetic reasons, they want to look good on the beach, they want to attract a partner or they just want to feel good about themselves, however it is their health that they really should be thinking about because obesity is likely to have a big impact on their quality of life and longevity.

Maybe dating web sites for overweight people should have a very subtle message in them warning people about the dangers of obesity. Obviously the idea would not be too ostracize them but to gently encourage them to lose weight. Sometimes the mere fact of two people getting together and falling in love can motivate them both to look after each other's eating habits and lose weight. What can be dangerous is when two overeaters get together and reinforce each other's bad eating habits.
