Overweight Air Hostesses Banned From Wearing Sexy Uniforms

Delta Airlines in the United States is in big trouble with The Association of Flight Attendants who say that the recent initiative to stop overweight female flight attendants wearing their bright red uniforms is offensive.

Delta Airlines will not provide the eye catching and sexy red uniforms to women who are over the size of 18 and instead these women are supposed to wear the somewhat duller dark blue uniform. The Association of Flight Attendants from the airline Northwest who own Delta said that this is a clear case of discrimination and obviously they are trying to distract attention from the larger air hostesses.
Ms. Patricia Reller who is the Vice Chairwoman of the NWA AFA grievance committee explained that she was extremely offended by the decision and that there were many “fuller figured women who would like to wear the red dress”.
Delta has refused to back down however and the problem has been put forward for union mediation. Delta said that they had a number of different uniforms that were both “stylish and very functional” and that they saw no reason to provide the red dresses in larger sizes.
Possibly, Delta did not provide the larger sizes in red because they felt that overweight women would not want to wear a colour which highlighted and accentuated their weight problem. It is likely that these women would look better in the darker blue colours which hide larger shapes better, but it seems that the NWA AFA believes that the employees should all be treated the same and have the right to wear what they want at work.
Overweight air hostesses are always a problem for airlines. On one hand they do not wish to offend the women, but at the same time due to limited space within the airplanes overweight women can cause blockages in the aisles and this can be dangerous as well as inconvenient. In India, the national airline at one point even suspended air hostesses who were over a certain BMI.
Ukmedix News recently reported extensively on the survey done by Ryanair in which passengers said that they felt that overweight individuals should pay more for their airline seats than normal weight people.

I agree with the airlines and the overweight women should be pleased that there is an incentive to lose weight. I don't think that a size 20 0r 22 or 24 would look good in bright red!!! Wasn't it the stewardesses who complained about overweight passengers? So now they are getting some of their own medicine.

Bring back the days of the young fit flight attendants! The old cat rancher's need to go...this could be the "Stimulus" that the airlines need to get back on track!

That's far fetched!
Safety measures & ability for work must be the only subjects to be discussed.

O.K., call me whatever slurs you wish; i.e., bring it on. Although there of voluptuous, intelligent ladies of greater proportions, please oh please pamper me on those cramped, smelly, noisy, uncomfortable flights with the most fit, well-groomed, and POLITE female attendants possible...and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Life has such few pleasures, grant me this one small wish.

The color they are wearing is the least of my worries. I just want to know they can get the hell out of my way in case there is an emergency

Fat guys should never go in public without their shirts on. This is untimately the same concept.
I might also mention that if the flight attendants didn't have the option to wear the darker one, they would be complaining about that, too. Overall, I think flight attendants should have the option of wearing either one, but attendants with higher bmi's should not be allowed at all due to safety concerns.
