very few people are aware of the cancer link

There's no escaping the fact that obesity is dangerous especially after the American Institute for Cancer Research recently published research which shows that more than 100,000 individual types of cancers are linked to having an excess of body fat.

One Hundred Thousand Varieties Of Cancer Linked To Being Obese

Alice Bender speaking on behalf of the American Institute for Cancer Research explained that when somebody had extra fat the amount of hormones such as estrogen in the body was affected as well as the processing of insulin both of which have been connected to higher rates of cancer. Not only this but being obese also led to low grade inflammation in the human body that again has been connected to incidences of cancer. The AICR also said that regular physical activity could significantly improve cancer survival rates even if it was started after the cancer diagnosis.

Possibly the most worrying information released by the AICR was that almost 50 percent of all American people were not aware of how dangerous obesity was and its link to higher cancer rates. She said that they were striving to educate the public that “obesity is right up there with tobacco” when it comes to cancer. Even in the UK while people associate obesity with heart disease and heart attacks very few of them are aware of the cancer link.

The study released by the American Institute for Cancer Research has estimated that obesity is connected to almost 50 percent of all American cases of endometrial cancers, over a third of all esophageal cancers, close to a third of all pancreatic cancers, a quarter of all kidney cancers, a fifth of all gallbladder cancers and seventeen percent of breast cancer cases.

Unfortunately many of these individuals only start to do something about their weight when it is too late and they have already been diagnosed with cancer. Don’t wait and do something now! Speak to your doctor about getting help and if necessary you may find that weight loss medications can help you too.
