Obesity Discrimination Is Legal

At Ukmedix News we know how difficult it is to lose weight

While it is illegal to discriminate against people for reasons of race, religion and disability the same does not apply to discrimination on the basis of physical weight. It has not been enshrined into the law in the United Kingdom that employers must give equal opportunity to overweight and obese individuals therefore allowing employers to discard applicants for jobs purely on the basis of their size.

Obesity Discrimination Is Legal

In the majority of cases obese applicants to jobs will never really be aware of why they were turned down for the position. They will instead receive a polite rejection letter and won’t be able to discern whether they were refused because of their weight or because their professional qualifications were lacking.

If you are overweight or obese you will find that the majority of people associate your weight with you more than anything else. It is a sad reflection on human society that physical appearances are given extreme importance and that the one thing that people will remember you for and describe you as if you have a weight problem is obese.

Overweight people as well as having problems getting jobs may even find themselves being restricted from residency in certain countries. For example recently an American woman who applied to get residency in New Zealand was turned down on the basis that her weight made her far more likely to be a burden on the health system there, showing again how being of a certain size prevents you from many different opportunities.

At Ukmedix News we know how difficult it is to lose weight but we believe that it is important that overweight and obese individuals understand how their weight problem is impacting on their lives and preventing them from fulfilling their full potential.

If you have a weight problem and are reading this why not take your life into your own hands and do something about it.  Tens of thousands of people in the United Kingdom lose weight and get healthy every year and there is no reason why you can’t be one of them.
