Obesity Denial Leads To More Weight Problems

don't live in denial!

The chronic obesity problem in the United Kingdom is being ignored by many men and women. Statistics show that when obese individuals are questioned the majority of them believe that they just fall into the "overweight" (BMI 25+) category as opposed to the "obese" (BMI 30+) category.

obesity denial leads to more weight problems

One survey undertaken in America by Harris Interactive showed that 70 percent of obese people believe that they were merely overweight and that almost 40 percent of those morbidly obese people (BMI 40+) reckoned that they were just overweight too. This survey also observed that 30 percent of overweight individuals perceive themselves to be of a normal weight.

The problem is being accentuated because there are so many overweight and obese individuals in the UK and because people are comparing themselves to each other and conning themselves into a false sense of security based on the size of everybody else. This is a dangerous thought process to follow and could lead you to becoming unhealthily overweight.

People who are concerned about their weight often avoid their thin friends and instead hang out with their more overweight buddies. They also stay away from the weighing scales and use a whole lot of other tricks and mind games to convince themselves that they don't have weight issues. Facing up to facts is very important when it comes to dealing with obesity. For example if you are male and when you look down you can't see your manhood you have problems! If you are a woman and you have to keep on buying new clothes you have a problem too!

Everyone expects to put on weight as they age but there's no reason why you should not be able to touch your toes, do up your shoe laces and go for a run. don't live in denial! If you are putting on weight face up to it and take affirmative action to deal with. The longer you ignore it the more serious it will become and the more difficult it will be to get back to a normal weight.

Remember that obesity kills!
