The news from America regarding obesity only seems to get worse and new reports that have been seen by Ukmedix News confirm this. Experts estimate that by the year 2015, ¾ of adults and ¼ of children will be either overweight or obese in America. At present 2/3 of American men and women are either overweight or obese and the figures have been rising for the last 3 decades at an astonishing rate.

Other statistics that may be of interest are that women between the ages of 20 and 34 reported the quickest increase in their rate of obesity when compared to all other people. The black community has suffered greatly with 80 percent of all black females over the age of 40 being overweight and 50 percent of them being obese.
The one group of people who have not put on as much weight as their fellow Americans are Asian Americans who have the lowest rate of obesity when compared with the other ethnic groupings. Nevertheless an Asian person born in America is four times more probable to end up being obese than an Asian person born in Asia.
As a rule you can also say that in America people with a lower level of schooling are much more likely to become obese when compared to people who have a higher level of education. Interestingly enough however this rule does not hold for black women. The part of America that has the biggest obesity problem is the south east.
With children the problem is not so severe among white children and is focused more on black and Mexican children. These children tend to come from lower income households where the problem of obesity is always more severe. Reports have shown that eating healthily can be more expensive than eating cheaply and as a result it is much more difficult for poorer households to educate their children in healthy eating habits.
