Obese Children Absent From School More Often

children who were overweight missed school around twenty percent more times

Apparently children who have weight problems are far more probable to be absent from school than normal weight children. The statistics collected by the University of Pennsylvania also showed that obese children were more likely to end up having problems with teen pregnancies, drugs and even AIDS.

Obese Children Absent From School More Often

On average it was seen that children who were overweight missed school around twenty percent more times than normal weight children. The researchers took into account the ages of the children, whether they were male or female and their ethnic origin but nevertheless there was a clear indication that being overweight affected the amount of school days attended.

The researchers felt that they could not be 100 percent sure why obesity made the children not turn up to school but they reckon that it may have something to do with the fact that they are bullied more and that they feel self conscious about being overweight which makes them not want to be at school.

Other research that we have looked at Ukmedix News shows that children who are obese are also much less likely to go to university after school and overall the chances of them being very successful are diminished.

At Ukmedix News we feel it is essential that people understand that obesity is not just a problem because it affects the health negatively but also because it can lower the self esteem and confidence of an individual as well as give them a lot of psychological stress. We have seen people who have really come out of their shells when they have lost weight and this has given them the confidence to fulfil their proper potential in both their careers and their personal relationships.

Life is too short to pussyfoot around and make excuses about why you are overweight. Going to a doctor and getting professional advice could change your life. At Ukmedix you can get an online consultation with a doctor who may be able to prescribe medicine that could help you lose weight. The long journey always starts with one step and that step could be you admitting that you have a problem with your weight.
