At Ukmedix News we have often argued that obesity is not just an issue because it has detrimental physical health implications but also because it is psychologically damaging and prevents people from reaching their full potential. Not only this but by being obese you immediately restrict the likelihood of you being able to do what you want to do because of the huge prejudice that the majority of people have against obese individuals.

For example if you would like to work in television the chance of getting a job is massively reduced if you are overweight. There are practically no overweight TV presenters, news readers or game show hosts and that is because physical appearance is consider so important for these programs. It is very unfair but obese individuals are considered to be less intelligent than those of a normal weight.
Other observations regarding television and obesity is that when an obese person is on television it is usually because they are there to talk about their weight or in the case of a film they are identified and characterised by their excess weight. The sad fact of life is that many employers perceive overweight individuals to be a burden, not only because they are more probable to take time off sick but also because they project a negative image to the company. It is no coincidence that front desk staff are normally good looking and slim.
At Ukmedix News we appreciate that for some people losing weight is extremely difficult but these people must take their future into their own hands and should lose weight if they are serious about fulfilling their full potential and becoming the people they want to be. There are hundreds of reasons to lose weight and if it helps you get the job that you want that should be the only motivation you require.
