Obese People Are Warming The Planet

A team of researchers have concluded that obesity is not only an issue for your own health but may also be having an effect on the health of the planet. One of the reasons for this is that the production of food is a large overall contributor to the production of carbon dioxide which in turn causes global warming. So put very simply the more that you eat the more the climate changes.

Another factor that they mentioned was that the huge herds of livestock which are produced these days are also responsible for huge amounts of methane being released into the atmosphere. Cows emit so much methane when they pass wind that it is estimated there they are responsible for around 1/5 of all greenhouse gases.
Another reason given for the negative impact that obese people have on the environment is that they burn off more carbon fuels in simple transport. For example airplanes today burn more fuel than they used to because many of the passengers are now overweight and the same is thought to apply to cars and other vehicles.
The transport of food around the world is also a major contributor to the production of greenhouse gases. Today it is possible to consume food from all four corners of the globe and supermarkets compete with each other for more exotic foodstuffs.
It is pretty obvious that you are unlikely to have a big impact on global warming by changing your eating habits however if larger countries like America and some of the more obese European nations were to get healthier there could be a marked improvement in the environment.
Dr Phil Edwards from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine's Department of Epidemiology and Population Health described today’s situation as living in a 'obesegenic' environment.

"Fat people warming up the planet".......Oh, please give me a break. What a load of crock. How about extra baggage, as in luggage? Maybe, if Dr. Phil Edwards would just stop passing gas, the planet would be cooler.
