Obese Get More Sexually Transmitted Diseases

Yet another clinical study has confirmed the direct link between obesity and risky sexual activity in women and this time even showed that it applies to men too. The study also confirmed that men suffering from obesity were more likely to get impotence and were also less active sexually. The fact that men get less sex if they are obese was a pretty obvious conclusion for the researchers to come up with however the other statistics will come as a surprise to many people.

The researchers who looked at the sexual activity of over 10,000 men and women between the ages of 18 and 69 noted that obese women were 29% less likely to have had sex in the previous 12 months when compared to those women of normal body mass. Despite these figures those obese women under the age of 30 were much less likely to use any form of contraception or to seek any form of contraceptive counseling. In fact the rate of accidental pregnancies was four times greater in obese women than it was in normal weight women.
Another interesting finding from the study which was led by Professor Nathalie Bajos from the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) based in Paris was that overweight women do not suffer from higher rates of female sexual dysfunction in the same way that overweight men suffer from erectile functioning problems related to their weight.
Despite the fact that obese men were 69% less likely to have multiple sexual partners they were much more likely to have sexually transmitted diseases. Obese men were also 2.5 times more likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction.
The study that was published by the British Medical Journal should be seen as a warning to both obese men and women that they should take more precautions when it comes to sexual activity. Obese men should also know that despite the ready availability of impotence medications Viagra, Cialis and Levitra they are far better off living healthily and losing weight if they want to have good sex in the long term.

my husband weighs 68 kilos and I don't think he is overweight by any means, however at 48 he is suffering from impotence, so how does this fit in to your article as he is not sick and has no known reason for this? Please can you help us understand what is going on?
