Statistically if you are overweight or obese when you are a child you are likely to remain that way all of your life. Eating habits are ingrained in to a person at a very young age and thus it is very difficult for individuals who were overweight when they were young to change their eating habits and get healthy.

However some people who have suffered greatly as teenagers for being overweight decide to take a concerted and direct step to be healthy and thin. These people tend to be focused and determined and are able to call a spade a spade. One such person who was very overweight when she was young was none other than the famous Hollywood actress Michelle Pfeiffer. She is reported to have suffered from bullying and teasing from not only fellow schoolmates but even her teachers. She also is said to have been unfeminine and a real tomboy.
Michelle Pfeiffer at one part of her life decided that she had had enough and that she wanted to be in control of the way she looked and her health. If you are serious about losing weight you must be determined and focused and be prepared to suffer a little bit too.
People who start to eat less always report that they feel hungry all day and this is likely to continue for a few days until your stomach starts to shrink and it gets used to smaller portion sizes. The great thing about this is that when your stomach does get used to it, you can eat lessand still feel full. It is important not to stuff yourself at meals because you will stretch your stomach and get used to eating too much again.
It is possible to train yourself so that eating smaller amounts becomes second nature for you and you enjoy your smaller meals just as much. You must make sure that you eat very slowly so that you drag the enjoyment out of what you are eating for a longer time. Also if you eat too quickly your stomach does not have time to react and tell you that it is full.
