Obese People Dont Listen To Doctors

Parents have a huge influence on the weight of their children...

A new study done in America shows their doctors who gave advice to overweight or obese men and women find very often that they get the idea that they are not being listened to at all. They find that when they speak to parents about their overweight children the situation is the same. The research that was undertaken by a number of doctors and headed by Dr. Sarah Barlow who hails from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine spoke to many doctors from different socio-economic backgrounds and areas.

Obese People Dont Listen To Doctors

The doctors noted that when people specifically came to see them about their weight problems they had already taken a big step in motivating themselves to lose weight and that therefore these people did listen to the advice that the doctors gave them.  However when people came to see doctors about other health complaints, (even if they were obesity related) unless the patient took it upon himself or herself to motivate themselves to lose weight most of the advice the doctors gave fell on deaf ears. The study in was published in the medical journal called Child that looks at many of the health issues that parents have to face in raising children.

What we have learnt at Ukmedix News is that parents have a huge influence on the weight of their children. If parents are overweight or obese it is likely to be due to unhealthy eating habits and these will be passed on to the children in due course. Once the children have developed these unhealthy eating habits it will be extremely difficult for them to lose them.

Remember therefore as a parent that even if you are not particularly motivated to lose weight and to get healthy maybe you should consider changing your diet as this will encourage your children to be healthy and get fit. Another report that we dealt with this week at Ukmedix News shows that overweight children suffer a great deal at school and are teased and bullied too from an age of as early as three.
