how effective Tesofensine is compared to the Sibutramine drug found in Reductil

The Danish pharmaceutical company NeuroSearch has put out an announcement that it has finished its Phase II testing for the United States Food & Drug Administration for the new weight loss drug tesofensine.

NeuroSearch Moves To Phase III With Tesofensine

This drug which we have previously written about at Ukmedix News has seen good results in the treatment of obesity which according to some reports are twice as good as any other weight loss drug presently available. Tesofensine which is categorised as a monoamine reuptake inhibitor works as an appetite suppressant and is extremely similar to sibutramine which is the active ingredient in the weight loss drug Reductil.

Now that the Phase II testing is complete NeuroSearch will be setting up Phase III testing for the Food & Drug Administration to complete the safety and efficacy assessment so that full approval can be granted. The Chief Medical Officer of NeuroSearch, Dieter Meier explained that the FDA was in complete agreement with how they wanted to develop the tesofensine drug and had been extremely supportive throughout the testing period.

NeuroSearch and the FDA have agreed that for the Phase III testing a dose of tesofensine of either 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg every day would be issued to volunteers and that the trials would consist of four placebo controlled studies involving around 5,700 obese individuals some of whom suffered from obesity related illnesses and some of who did not. Out of these four trials two of them will be conducted to see how effective Tesofensine is compared to the Sibutramine drug found in Reductil.

At Ukmedix News we are extremely interested in the outcome of this research because we have such great results with men and women who use Reductil.  If a new appetite suppressant drug can be produced which is more effective than Reductil we want to know about it.

I am looking forward to the end result and am happy to know that ukmedix is keeping up with the new drugs even though they supply reductil. Its good to feel that if there is something better they will find it, if it is not we will know about it.
