lead by their actions as well as their words

The importance of practicing what you preach has been highlighted after a British MP who had campaigned heavily against the government for not providing enough initiatives to deal with unhealthy diets in the UK has been found out to be claiming money for very unhealthy foodstuffs.

MP And Obesity Campaigner Claims Expenses For Unhealthy Food

The British press already fired up because of the exorbitant expenses claimed by MP’s all over the country are now turning their guns on Ms. Annette Brooke who is the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for children and families. They say that not only was she claiming expenses for pastries, cakes, chocolate bars and high calorie fizzy drinks but she was doing this at the House of Commons cafes which are already subsidised by the taxpayer.

In her defence the MP for North Poole and Mid-Dorset explained that the receipts were not actually for food she had bought or consumed but in fact they were for students who worked for free in her office and who were allowed to claim their expenses for travel and food.

In fact, it seems that the press of being a little bit sanctimonious because the complete bill for these unhealthy items comes to just over £150 over a whole year and is divided into 70 individual receipts.  Nevertheless people who are in positions of public responsibility and public accountability must set a good example and lead by their actions as well as their words.

At Ukmedix News we have come to the conclusion that unless drastic measures are taken and huge investments are put into anti obesity campaigns around the United Kingdom, the British government must resign themselves to big increases in obesity related illness all over the nation which in turn will lead to huge increases in NHS funding requirements.
