Motivations For Overeating, Get To Know Yours

The truth is that everybody binges sometimes

Let’s face it, the main reason why the vast majority of obese people are that way is because they eat too much!  Once this point has been established it is a sensible idea to try and understand why exactly people do eat too much and what their motivations are. The truth is that everybody binges sometimes, especially around Christmas and special occasions but that some people just binge too often and they are the ones who end up overweight.

Motivations For Overeating, Get To Know Yours

One of the biggest triggers why people eat too much is because they starve themselves throughout the day. If you go without breakfast by the time it gets to lunch you are likely to go all out and eat a large amount. In turn this will stretch your stomach and since you are unlikely to eat again until dinnertime you’ll probably overeat again. You should make a point of never letting yourself become very hungry, and breakfast and regular small healthy snacks throughout the day should keep hunger at bay.

Eating out in restaurants regularly is also a major cause of overeating. Restaurants don’t care for your weight or your health, they only want to make sure that you leave having had a tasty meal and that you are full up. Even salads in restaurants tend to be huge and full of cheese, bacon and other fattening items. It makes it very hard to stick to healthy items when there are burgers walking past your table all the time.

People often overeat because of emotional reasons. They justify their eating because they are sad, tired or feeling unloved. You should learn to identify these emotional eating patterns and try to avoid them. Stop for a moment and really think about why you overeat, examine your motivations and if you are truly honest with yourself and you get to the core of your problem you are more likely to be able to lose weight than by going on some complicated diet plan which promises amazing results within weeks.

Very good article, I agree it is better to eat five times a day, i.e. Breakfast, fruit and veggie snack, Lunch, fruit and veggie snack, Supper and nothing but Water Tea (all sorts) coffee (only if you cannot do without it.
