Motivation Is The Way Forward

More than any special diet plan the thing that you need most to lose weight is motivation. Most dieters start off with a full tank of motivation but soon find that they are running on empty and the desire to go back to their previous unhealthy eating habits becomes extremely strong.

One of the most important things to remember is that you should not expect instant results from your diet and that healthy eating has to be looked at as a long term project. Diets which promise so much in the short term but which fail to deliver end up demoralising those people who try them. A diet should ‘under promise and over deliver’ as opposed to ‘over promise and under deliver’.
When you set targets they should not necessarily be around how much weight you actually lose but should instead be focused on your lifestyle changes. For example you could set yourself a target in the gym to reach a particular level of personal fitness. Time how long it takes you to run 3km and try and knock ten percent of that time in two weeks. It is always a good idea to set targets and challenges when working out because they will motivate you.
When it comes to food consumption you should also set targets. You could maybe promise yourself that you will eat at least three pieces of fruit every day and stick to a healthy breakfast every morning. Weight loss targets should not just be about a number on a scale but should be focused on a whole lifestyle change. Small targets which you reach every week are more effective than setting huge targets such as running a marathon.
Never underestimate the power of the mind when it comes to weight loss. You should make a point of everyday visualising the end result with all of its benefits. Focus on each and every one of the joys of weight loss because they will help you stay on track.
