More 'Herbal' Meds Found To Contain Powerful Drugs

It is not worth taking a risk with your health

The Malaysian Health Ministry's Pharmaceutical Services Division has released a warning regarding three weight loss products which are being sold in shops and markets around Malaysia and which are probably available to hundreds of other countries through the internet. The three products are called Slimway Herbs, BMI-9 Xylimming Night capsules and BMI-9 Xlymming Day capsules.

The Pharmaceutical Services Division director Ms. Eishah Rahman warned that using these so called herbal products without getting advice from a doctor could be dangerous and lead you to suffer from hypertension or heart problems. She explained that many of these medications were illegal and were laced with the active ingredient of the weight loss drug Reductil namely sibutramine. In Malaysia, like the UK the weight loss drug Reductil is only permitted for use with a prescription from a doctor and should never be purchased illegally.

Originally the products had been registered with the Malaysian Drug Control Authrority but the permit was immediately revoked when samples were tested and they were found to contain sibutramine.  It is a serious criminal offence to manufacture and sell weight loss medication which makes no mention of the real active ingredients because it can seriously damage the health of unsuspecting customers.

The Malaysian Drug Control and Cosmetics Regulations specify that anybody who is involved in the sale or distribution or even just in possession of these medications is liable for prosecution which could result in hefty fines and even a jail term. At Ukmedix News we have come across so many traditional, herbal and natural weight loss medications which contain powerful chemicals, some of which are even illegal with a prescription, that our advice is that in the case of weight loss medication you should never use anything unless it is given to you by doctor.

Purchasing traditional medication over the internet opens you up to a huge risk of buying something which could do you a lot of harm. It is not worth taking a risk with your health and in any case even if the “traditional” medication is not dangerous it is likely to be useless.
