Michelle Obama Continuing With Obesity Efforts

Michelle Obama is continuing with her initiative to get children all around America healthy and slim. She recently launched the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition at Columbia Heights Educational Campus and gave a demonstration of her rope skipping abilities to those attending. Michelle Obama said that they had clear targets and that they wanted to stop the “epidemic of childhood obesity in a generation”.

She has roped in NFL quarterback Drew Brees and the Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes to sit on the council with her in an attempt to be role models for children. It is hoped that the example will get children to take up more sport and stay away from unhealthy fast food.
At Ukmedix News we wish Michelle Obama all the luck in the world, but unfortunately we know that she is doomed to fail. Unless she is prepared to take on the multimillion pound advertising budgets from fast food restaurants which are directed at children she doesn’t have a hope.
Fast food has become an integral part of American society due to its financial might and while the Presidents Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition will probably do a little bit of good it is unlikely to stop the juggernaut of obesity sweeping through American families.
Michelle Obama needs to name and shame the American fast food restaurants who churn out calorie and fat laden junk full of sugar and salt. She needs to initiate legislation which means that fast food can be taxed in the same way as cigarettes and alcohol are taxed to meet future obesity related disease expenses.
America cannot wait any longer and Michelle Obama needs to stop pussyfooting around. She needs to show that she and her husband are not in the pocket of the fast food industry and that as the First Lady of America she can walk her talk and get some results.
