It is impossible for us at Ukmedix News to publish all the evidence and research that is done all around the world with regard to diet and nutrition and so we tend to look for credible, impartial and serious studies. If for example we see 50 studies that show that a particular diet can help individuals suffering from heart disease for example we give it time of day, but we are wary of one off studies that make outlandish claims especially if there are commercial motives.

One diet which always comes up trumps because so much research has been done with it and the results always look good is the simple Mediterranean diet. Adding to the weight of evidence is a recent Spanish study which shows that following a Mediterranean lifestyle and diet could protect you against ever developing Type 2 diabetes.
There are hundreds of studies which said that the Mediterranean diet protects hearts and the evidence shows that people living in the Mediterranean area have among the healthiest hearts in the world, but this study goes one step further by showing that people who eat fruit and vegetables along with fish, nuts and natural produce tend to have lower rates of diabetes.
For this study almost 13,500 university graduates from Spanish universities who did not have a history of diabetes were monitored over four years. They were asked detailed questions about their eating habits, the way they cooked their food and whether they took any vitamins or supplements. From the figures available to researchers they can conclude that those who followed a Mediterranean diet closely reduced the risk of suffering from Type 2 diabetes by a huge 83 percent.
The Mediterranean diet is not only popular because it is good for you but it is probably the tastiest diet around. The Mediterranean diet is a colourful eating plan which allows you to take a little bit of olive oil as well as a huge array of different fruit, vegetables and fish.
If you are a person who loves to eat then this is the diet for you!
