fat burning properties...

Every now and again the Ukmedix newsroom is sent a press release which shows the various types of food can speed up the metabolism and act as so called fat burners. Just recently for example we were informed by the manufacturer of a type of cayenne pepper that it contained natural thermogenics which had fat burning properties which could help overweight people to lose weight.

Saying that you can shed pounds by eating cayenne pepper is a bit like saying you can paint squash courts with a 5mm brush. Yes, it will have an effect but the impact will be extremely minimal.  You should also be aware that many people delude themselves into thinking the something like cayenne pepper is helping them to lose weight and therefore they reckon that they are able to eat more without gaining weight.

If you are banking on losing weight by eating Cayenne pepper think of the above squash court painting analogy. It is simply the wrong way to go about it. By all means add it to your diet but dont expect it to do all of the work on its own.

Another food which is supposed to speed up your metabolism is chilli and that is why some misinformed dieters think that eating a super hot chilli burger or a very hot curry will nullify the huge quantity and the huge fat content of these types of foods.

Probably the only a statistically significant natural weight loss aid is green tea. Do not think that it will do all the work but it can function as an appetite suppressant and a very slight (1% or 2%) metabolic booster. Watch out for green tea tablets and supplements because they often contain powerful chemicals and are not just green tea extracts.

Use your common sense! If it was that easy to lose weight by eating cayenne pepper or chilli there would not be any fat people would there!

It is true that they do speed up your metabolism however this does not mean you can eat all you want to!
