Have you previously made a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight and failed? If so read on….

What makes you reckon that this year will be any different and that you will be able to maintain your weight loss? Many people lose weight for a few months and then when they are happy with their weight they begin to relax and put it back on again. This often occurs because people have lost weight unhealthily by either starving themselves or by going on unsustainable diets that they are unable to live with forever.
If you start the diet plan to lose weight which you know in your heart of hearts that you have no intention of sticking with for the rest of your life you might as well resign yourself to the fact that you will eventually put on every pound that you lose. A weight loss plan has to be forever and therefore it must be reasonable and practical and something that does not cut out every type of food that you like.
Men and women who have failed in weight loss often blame the diet and in a lot of cases they are right. If you think that by eating salads you can solve your long term weight loss problem you are mistaken. You need to examine every single aspect of your life and see where you can make small changes which will be permanent and thus hopefully result in permanent weight loss.
Getting exercise and toning up your body is a very good way to be proactive about your weight loss and to get fit and healthy. If you cannot imagine yourself getting exercise on a regular basis for the rest of your life going to the gym for a few months will probably only result in weight loss for a few months. You need to find some form of exercise which you enjoy and look forward to for it to be sustainable. Some people prefer social exercising such as playing tennis or squash whereas others are happy to go for a walk in the park on their own or run on a treadmill.
Weight loss does not have to be miserable and does not have to involve cutting out all the good things in life. Look at weight loss as a way of freeing yourself up from the constraints of carrying large amounts of weight with you. Losing weight can change your life for the better in hundreds of different little ways and there’s no better time to start than now!
