weighed 9lb. less than those who consumed the low fat milk

An interesting study which examined the certain consumption habits of children have concluded that those who drink full fat milk daily have a lower BMI than those children who drink low fat versions. The study done at the Gothenburg University based in Sweden saw that those children drinking full fat milk on average weighed a statistically significant 9lb. less than those who consumed the low fat milk.

Kids Drinking Full Fat Milk Are Thinner

A number of different conclusions have been drawn from this research and one of them is that those children who don’t drink full fat milk could be substituting them with high calorie sugar laden drinks instead. The lead author of the study Susanne Eriksson also noted that there was a difference in the diets of the overweight children who drank full fat milk daily and those who didn’t.

This research which was done by detailed documentation of the bone mineralisation, body composition and nutritional intake of 120 eight year old children also revealed that most of them had kept the same diet since they were four years old. This led to a conclusion that children’s eating habits are formed extremely early, something that we have harped on about at Ukmedix News for years.

Another observation which could be made is that overweight children don’t drink full fat milk because they are told not to, because they are overweight in the first place. The question is whether there’s a positive impact on childhood obesity in drinking full fat milk or whether they should stick to low fat versions. At Ukmedix News we believe that there’s no reason why healthy and active young children should not be given full fat milk as it is full of calcium and other nutrients.

Other research which we have published shows that the inclusion of dairy products in a diet can have a positive effect on weight but obviously like all foodstuffs moderation is the key. Other studies have shown that people who drink a lot of diet fizzy drinks also tend to have weight problems.
