Your body needs and craves fat and if you completely cut out this essential foodstuff from your diet you will not be as healthy as you should. Fat plays an essential function in the production of hormones and provides your body with much of the important daily energy that it requires.

The problem with fat consumption is that there are side effects which need to be kept to a minimum. The keyword with fat should always be moderation! However it is also worth considering what type of fat you are absorbing into your body because there’s a great difference between for example hydrogenated trans fats and naturally occurring fats found in say olive oil.
If you make a concerted effort to only consume natural fats such as olive oil and corn oil the chances of you suffering from health problems such as heart disease and strokes as you get older are greatly reduced. By the time people get to the age of around fifty many of them have unhealthy hearts and arteries because of a large consumption of fat throughout their lives. However research has shown that the Italian people for example who consume huge amounts of olive oil and other natural fats have far less heart disease than the American people whose dietary fat consumption tends to be more focused on processed food containing unhealthy fats.
A diet tip from the Ukmedix Newsroom is to ‘Go Natural’. Try and include foods into your diet which contain natural fats like olive oil, corn oil, oily fish, nuts and avocados and try and exclude anything that contains fat which is processed. Processed food also contains high levels of unhealthy salt and sugar which have also been indicated as heart disease instigators.
It’s not a bad idea to become an olive oil snob and demand the finest olive oil and relish the taste of every drop. This way you will enjoy your consumption of natural fat and be able to monitor it better. At Ukmedix News we have argued that eating high quality foodstuffs is extremely healthy and is the way forward for longevity and quality of life.
