causes irreversible liver damage and may be linked to the death of a 19 year old

A warning has been put out by the Food & Drug Administration in America that people should not use a popular dietary supplement called Hydroxycut because of reports that it causes irreversible liver damage and even could be linked to the death of a nineteen year old boy. The product which comes in fourteen different guises has been sold in supermarkets and pharmacies for over a year now and is supposedly only made from natural ingredients. In all it is estimated that Iovate Health Sciences who make the Hydroxycut products have sold around 9 million units.

Hydroxycut Warning From FDA

Speaking on behalf of the Food & Drug Administration Dr. Linda Katz explained that 23 individual reports of liver problems associated with Hydroxycut products had been submitted to them. Many of the problems involved jaundice and liver problems and one person has since received a liver transplant one another person is on a waiting list to receive a new liver.

The company Iovate Health Sciences said that their assessment of the Iovate Health Sciences was different to the Food & Drug Administration’s and that the number of adverse event was very small when the number of products sold was taken into account. However the company said that they were recalling the products just to be extra careful and described their actions as ‘an abundance of caution.’

In many countries it is important to remember that dietary supplements and so called natural products are not regulated and therefore manufacturers make spurious claims which have not been verified in independent clinical testing. The Food & Drug Administration however has stepped up its monitoring of dietary supplements because of the greater numbers of adverse events being reported to them.

At Ukmedix News we believe that all medications for weight loss should be issued by a doctor and that dietary supplements should be more tightly regulated by law.

If you have been or are currently using Hydroxycut supplements to diet or get in shape, you should know it's been recalled and is apparently very dangerous. This site has a lot of good information on its problems: http://www.hydroxycut-liver-damage-lawyer.com/.
