HMS Warns Of Diet Supplements

The famous Harvard Medical School in response to questions and concerns surrounding weight loss supplements has warned that you should be extremely vigilant before you use one. In fact they also said that that you should always speak to a doctor about losing weight.

The Harvard Medical School also said that supplements which come with catchy slogans which promise easy weight loss with practically no effort should be avoided completely. They warned about products which contained ephedrine, norephedrine or methylephedrine that are closely related to the ephedra compound which was banned by the Food & Drug Administration back in 2004 after causing a number of deaths.
They said it was essential that a distinction was made between the use of FDA approved weight loss drugs like Xenical and Reductil and using over the counter supplements which have not been subjected to independent clinical research. Weight loss supplements often contain high levels of caffeine or other stimulants designed to speed up your heart beat and metabolism so that you burn off more calories. However the side effects of this are hot flushes, mood swings and trouble concentrating.
Other potentially dangerous ingredients in weight loss supplements are the harmless sounding bitter orange and country mallow which actually have chemicals in them very similar to ephedra. Other compounds to stay clear of include guar gum, spirulina (blue-green algae), and chitosan.
At Ukmedix News we believe that the weight loss supplement industry needs to be properly regulated and that any weight loss claims need to be also supported by independent medical research for not only safety but also for effectiveness. Until then the safest way forward is to make sure that anything you do use comes with a prescription.
Weight loss is never easy and the last thing you need is an untested diet supplement giving you false hopes which have never been independently verified.

Stay clear of Spirulina?!
This is very strange and I won't believe it even if I see the original report.
Why would UN have a project dedicated to Spirulina which is IIMSAM.ORG if it is harmful?
