Health First, Image After Please

There is growing concern among doctors and nutritionists about the issue of both men and women seeming to be more concerned with body image than their health. Overweight individuals perceive their problem to be one which is cosmetic and visual as opposed to one which is dangerous to their health.

It is much more important that blood pressure levels, cholesterol levels and other health indicators are normal in the long run rather then being obsessive about body size. While it is true that normal weight individuals tend to have better health just because you are slim does not necessarily mean that you're eating healthy and that you don’t suffer from health problems related to poor quality diet.
The best way in fact to go about any weight loss attempt is to start eating healthily as opposed to looking at your eating plan purely as a way to lose weight. If you focus on healthy eating weight loss will come along as a natural by product. Not only this but people who eat healthily have better skin, better hair and a generally healthier appearance.
If you are serious about looking good you need to approach your diet in a holistic way and one which is not solely focused on the numbers on the weighing scales. In fact many nutritionists and personal trainers say that you shouldn’t even stand on the scales at all but you should rely on your own intuition about whether you are shedding fat and getting in shape with diet and exercise.
A lot of the problem is the message which the media gives out today about body size and even promotes ridiculous celebrity diets which are supposed to burn fat instantly. Celebrity diets are all about image and diets should be all about health.
