Gwyneth Paltrow, the super skinny actress and movie star has often spoken about how she keeps in shape through diet and exercise. She also runs a health website called Goop in which she recently promoted a New Year diet kit calling it a three-week detox program. In conjunction with Dr Alejandro Junger, Gwyneth Paltrow said that the detox program which makes use of shakes, tablets, oils and fibre could make you lose weight and gain energy for the New Year.

However, Gwyneth has come into a lot of flak for promoting this eating regime with many nutritionists arguing that it is unhealthy and that it will only produce laxative effects! Some health experts have even argued that her routine could even induce unhealthy eating habits which could make you put on weight rather than lose it!
At Ukmedix News we are extremely wary of any celebrity diets especially those which claim to detox your body! The whole concept of detox diets goes against any proven scientific evidence. A spokesman from the respected British Dietetic Association, Dr Frankie Phillips said that the idea of detox was nonsense and pointed out that the human body was perfectly capable of detoxifying itself without pills and special foods.
The way we see it at Ukmedix News is that Gwyneth Paltrow is a very talented actress and deserves some recognition for this but she should stay well away from dispensing diet advice because she has no qualifications to do so!
One of the biggest problems that professional nutritionists have is that there is so much celebrity weight loss and diet advice out there which is just a load of rubbish but unfortunately the power of celebrity is such that people follow every word they say!
At Ukmedix News we have always said that the only diet advice you want to get is simple, common sense nutritional advice which is exactly what the doctor will give you. Celebrity diets always involve tablets, an overemphasis on one type of food or unhealthy eating patterns.
Gwyneth, stick to acting and let the doctors and qualified nutritionists do their job!
