This is sort of advertisement is typical of New York City Health Department

Yum yum, would you like to have a glass of pure fat! That is the message coming from the hard hitting New York City Health Department which has just released a short video clip showing a normal looking man drinking from a glass which looks like it contains pure yellow fat!

Fighting Obesity With Fat Video Clip In New York City

The idea is to warn people that by drinking full sugar cans of fizzy drinks you are taking on a load of extra calories which will in time be converted into fat. Mr.Thomas Farley, the New York City Health Commissioner explained that by drinking a regular sugary drink every day could end up with you putting on 10lb. in weight every year. Not everybody is happy with this portrayal of sugary drinks and the American Beverage Association was quick to fight back by saying that the advertising campaign was “irresponsible”.

The advert which you can watch in full here, is pretty disgusting to watch the especially as the man ends up with greasy blobs of fat all over his face. This is sort of advertisement is typical of New York City Health Department which takes no prisoners when they want to promote a health message. Their advertisements warning people not to smoke have also been shocking, but then again NYC can boast some of the most successful smoking cessation initiatives in America.

At Ukmedix News we love the attitude that NYC takes towards obesity and it’s about time that the UK government stepped up its campaign and started pulling some punches against the food industry and the restaurant industry. They also need to start investing in educational campaigns which would allow people to make sensible choices about what they eat rather than being bombarded with relentless advertising for food which is harmful for them and their children.

Come on Gordon Brown, show them what you’ve got!
