The FDA report highlights of the dangers of using anything not prescribed...

The Food & Drug Administration of America has issued more warnings regarding the dangers of taking weight loss medications which are not prescribed by doctors. In all the FDA has published a list showing almost 30 different types of weight loss tablets which contain undeclared ingredients which could be potentially lethal. The FDA also said that in many cases the weight loss medications contained dangerously high levels of the active ingredients which were much higher than recommended dosages.

The FDA warned that many of the products were marketed and advertised as natural dietary supplements which contained only herbal remedies when in fact they contained excessive dosages of prescription medications some of which had been withdrawn from sale.

For example some of the weight loss tablets contained a drug called rimonabant which is the active ingredient of the weight loss drug Acomplia. This drug which has been withdrawn from sale in the European Union has side effects which include severe depression and suicidal thoughts and therefore the marketing of this as a natural dietary supplement is highly irresponsible.

Other weight loss remedies which were mentioned included some that contained phenytoin which is an anti seizure medication and also phenolphthalein which has been linked to higher rates of cancer in users and which is therefore banned. Many of the weight loss remedies listed by the Food & Drug Administration contained sibutramine which is the active ingredient of the prescription weight loss drug Reductil.

The FDA report highlights of the dangers of using anything which is not prescribed by a doctor to help you to lose weight. At Ukmedix only legal prescription medication prescribed by a UK practicing doctor and issued by a UK licenced pharmacy are available. You can even check up on the veracity of your product by using the Ukmedix Pharmacheck system which will give you more details about the origin of your medication.

Don’t gamble with your health, only use the real thing.
