Fad Diet Warning Signs

fat burning, calorie burning and metabolic boost

The reason why we are so against fad diets at Ukmedix News is because quite simply they don't work! Fad diets are promoted as easy ways to lose weight when in fact over the long term they are likely to make you become even fatter. There are a number of ways to spot a fad diet and differentiate them from serious nutritionally sound diets and you should look out carefully for the warning signs.

fad diet warning signs

For example one thing that fad diets always go on about is how simple and easy they are, and use phrases like 'no effort required'. Another fad diet promotional trick is to use lots of endorsements and testimonials and before and after photographs. If you use your common sense it is pretty obvious that testimonials are not worth the paper they are written on so just ignore them.

As for the before and after photographs, why is it that the before photograph is always out of focus, grainy and miserable and the after photo is bright, smiling and looks like the subject is holding their breath and got a sudden suntan.

Another marker for a fad diet is that the weight loss advertised is more than 2lb. a week.  If the diet promises [and they love to use the word promise] unrealistic weight loss than just throw it away and ignore it. Other words which fad diets make use of are 'miracle', 'secret', and 'celebrity'. If these words appear anywhere you know you are on to something which is a waste of time. Fad diets are always about short term, easy and unrealistic weight loss. Other favourite phrases of fad diets are 'fat burning', 'calorie burning' and 'metabolic boost'.

Fad diets always say that exercise is not needed because they will do anything to make you follow them. After all they are trying to sell a book, a DVD or some dietary supplements and they are more interested in your money than in your weight loss.
