Everyone knows that smoking causes cancer and that you can get skin cancer from staying in the sun for too long but it is surprising how few people are aware that after smoking the biggest cause of cancer is obesity. Individuals tend to associate obesity with heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure but are not really aware of the increased likelihood of cancer that comes with it.

In America it is estimated that 30 percent of all cancer diagnosed is related to unhealthy diet and that developed nations with obesity problems could significantly reduce the burden on hospitals treating cancer patients by getting their citizens thinner. It is thought that people who eat healthily protect their bodies against cells becoming cancerous and there are a number of diet tips which you can take note of which could not only greatly improve your general health but also reduce the likelihood of you suffering from cancer in the future.
Probably the most important thing for you to do is to include a lot of fruit and vegetables in your diet as they are full of antioxidants which scientists believe play a part in blocking the process which causes cancer. Take a good look at your diet and tried to consume portions of at least five different fruits or veg everyday.
Make a point also to include as much fibre as possible in your diet. Things like whole grains, and nuts have been shown to significantly reduce the likelihood of cancer of the bowel as well as other cancers. Go easy on processed food which is high in salt as some research projects have shown a link between stomach cancer and a high salt diet. Stay away from too much fried food and whatever you do don’t even think about smoking.
Basically by eating a sensible balanced diet and living a healthy exercise-filled life you greatly reduce the chances of getting cancer.

Eating fruit and vegies is very good for you BUT we have to know where we are getting them. I just found out that apples are coated with was to make them stay fresh longer and that they may actually be a month or two old. Eating the apple with the wax on can cause serious problems and it must be scaped off with a sharp knife before eating it. You can look it up on the internet.

Not all apples, oranges, fruit and veg are the same. Always go for fruit that it in season cos then you know that it is local and not from Brazil where it has been flown half way round the world and produced by a corrupt businessman, who treats his workers badly. Local fruit is healthier and the same goes for veg

could it be that the covering and pesticides of all this fruit is causing the cancer in the first place??

Yes it could be, in fact it probably is, maybe we should all be questioning how it was produced before buying.

The chemicals found in food (even heavily processed food) are not nearly as likely to cause any cancer as being overweight or obese is. Obesity is the second biggest cause of cancer after smoking... Fat people love to blame their illnesses on any thing other than their weight.
