A new study has confirmed what we already knew at Ukmedix News which is that if you want to lose weight it does not really matter too much what you eat provided that you keep the number of calories consumed every day below a certain level. The study which was published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that it is not important whether you eat carbohydrates, fat or protein as long as you control the calorie count.

For the study different groups of people followed four different diets containing different mixes of carbohydrate, fat and protein but exactly the same amount of calories. The researchers said that they did not see any statistically significant differences in the weight loss results in the participants.
Professor George Bray from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana who was one of the study authors said that provided the volunteers were able to stick to the directory recommendations they would all lose weight and therefore it didn’t matter which diet they followed.
This confirms something that we have always argued at Ukmedix News which is that your diet needs to be tailored to your tastes, practical and reasonable in order to work. Following a very high protein diet for example when in fact you would much rather eat and you feel better with carbohydrates is always a mistake. You need to take into account your lifestyle and use your common sense when it comes to choosing a diet.
Another thing which you should consider is that your body needs protein, carbohydrates and fat in order to function well and neglecting one food group is not good for your health. You should also make a big effort to eat fruits and vegetables in large quantities because these do so much good and contain so many vital nutrients.
Keep the calories down and eat what you want for best results!
