a healthy diet should consist of a fair amount of the right sort of fat

People who are trying to lose weight are right to steer away from eating fat however to they should be aware that not everything about fat is bad, and that a healthy diet should consist of a fair amount of the right sort of fat which is good for you. The right type of fat in your diet can help with a number of important body processes such as transporting vitamins, helping in the production of hormones, providing energy and fuel for the body as well as being an important part of most healthy human cells.

Eat The Right Sort Of Fat

When you add fat your diet try to go for natural fats because these are far better for you than processed fats. The best type of fat is found in nuts, olive oil, fish and even avocados. The worst types of fat are found in fried food that you find in fast food chains. You should also try to limit the amount of fatty red meat and full fat dairy products that you eat as they also contain unhealthy saturated fats.

Never forget however that all types of fat even healthy fat are very high in calories and therefore moderation should always be the watchword here. Nutritionists argue that it is not the fat itself which causes you to put on weight but merely the fact that fat contains so many calories that people who eat too much are unable to burn off.

A practical hint to remember is that if you ever feel that you have eaten a little bit too much try and compensate for it by going for run or a workout in the gym. You could also make a point of eating very little at the next meal and sticking to low calorie foods.
