Eat, Drink And Be Gorgeous is the new diet book which tells us not to diet! At Ukmedix News we are very wary of diet books because they tend to promise substantial weight loss with minimal effort. They also are often extremely complicated and confusing to the normal person who doesn’t understand nutrition and fitness. At Ukmedix News however we liked the vibe of this book because it talks about lifestyle, lets us eat the things that we love in moderation and doesn’t come covered in long scientific words and phrases designed to impress us.

The author Esther Blum tells us to forget extreme dieting and fasting and to throw out the latest fad of detox. She talks about how ridiculous eating just brown rice and lemon juice is and how harmful it is not only for our bodies but also for our psychological attitude into weight loss. She explains that extreme self denial followed by feeling guilty when you eat too much is a destructive vicious circle which needs to be broken to set yourself free. She also explains that women who have punishing diet regimes also tend to look older than women who have been less harsh on themselves.
Another thing she explains is that a little bit of fat is necessary for the body to produce hormones which are important for good female sexual health. A little bit of cholesterol is essential for the production of oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone which ultimately are responsible for regulating our well being. Some researchers have shown that by going on starvation diets can even cause depression due to hormone depletion.
Ms. Blum tells us to stay away from diet food and stick to the regular full fat versions because in a perverse way they can contribute to weight gain. Very often these diet foods contain excess salt and sugar to make up for the lack of fat. She explains about how fat can come in different types and tells us to focus on the natural fats found in olive oil and from other natural sources.
There are literally hundreds of useful tips which you can incorporate into your lifestyle which are not about complete denial but about healthy and moderate consumption of the good things in life.
Another thing we loved about this book is that it talks about how exercise should not be considered to be a punishment. This is so important as so many women hate going to the gym but just push themselves out of feelings of guilt. Ms. Blum says that you must find something you enjoy doing whether it be belly dancing, pole dancing or a walk in the park. If you make exercise fun you will not only motivate your mood but also enjoy life more and make yourself more likely to stick with it.
At the end of the day this book provides a realistic and positive outlook on health and living which it is hoped will help men and women understand that it is possible to live life to the full and eat healthily too.

I actually believe - for once - that this is a positive introduction to society. Healthy living should be encouraged in every aspect and should never be perceived as stressful - who wants to look old because of dieting??
