Dominos Pizza For School Lunches...Seriously

they are delivering to schools in 120 districts

Ukmedix News was shocked to learn that the fast food chain Dominos Pizza has been chosen to supply various schools in America with lunch time pizza slices. You would have thought that with the American government struggling under the chronic childhood obesity problem that they would be more discerning about which companies they dealt with for school food deliveries.

dominos pizza for school lunches...seriously

Dominos Pizza proudly announced that it had developed a lower fat pizza deceptively named the Smart Slice which had lower amounts of fat, calories and salt than the normal Dominos pizza. They said that they are delivering to schools in 120 districts and hoped to increase that to 240 over the next year. Dominos Pizza said that 93 percent of schools were serving frozen pizza but they were able to serve "fresh pizza".

No wonder so many children in America are condemned to a lifetime of obesity, diabetes and a whole list of other illnesses related to overeating if they are educated into believing that eating fast food like Dominos Pizza is somehow normal and even nutritional.

Companies like Dominos Pizza jump at the opportunity to promote their products in schools because they know that they will be developing lifelong customers. It should be made illegal for companies like Dominos Pizza to have anything to do with school food no matter how nutritional they claim their products are.

At Ukmedix News we have nothing against Dominos Pizza but there is a time and place for everything and allowing fast food companies to get involved in school food is criminally irresponsible and local health officials should hang their heads in shame that they allow this to go ahead.

One such official, Mr. Brent Craig, director of nutrition services based in Douglas County, Colorado did not seem to get the irony of it when he said that they "were conscious that pizza can be perceived as not healthy" but "Dominos Smart Slice solves that problem". He described working with Dominos pizza as being "a great win-win for us", when in fact it was nothing more than a massive win for the future profits of Dominos Pizza and a massive lose for the future health of the children in the schools.

Whatever next? McDonalds and Burger King for school lunches too? America it is time you woke up!!
