Being slim and trim will also reduce the chances of your cancer recurring

The importance of good diet to encourage good health has been underlined by a recent survey publicised by both the American Cancer Society and the American Institute of Cancer Research which shows that eating well can reduce the chances of you getting cancer, and surviving it.

Diet Link To Lowering Recurrence Of Cancer

If you have had cancer and have survived it is imperative that you take advice on what you should and should not eat because it will have a big impact on whether the disease will recur. Many individuals do not see the link between good diets and for example breast cancer but many different research projects have shown a clear connection in this regard.

Cancer survivors should make sure that they eat a lot of fruit and vegetables which are high in antioxidants which many scientists credit with keeping cancer at bay. The recommendations from most nutritionists say that you should have at least five servings of either fruit or veg daily.

The Mediterranean diet which we have written about extensively at Ukmedix News is also credited with lowering cancer rates. Foods containing healthy natural fats such as olive oil, nuts and oily fish such as tuna are all extremely good for you end you should make an extra effort to include them in your diet.

Being slim and trim will also reduce the chances of your cancer recurring and this can also be helped by a little bit of exercise every day. If you are one of those people who finds exercise difficult you should remember that a brisk walk daily can be all that is required to get your circulation moving and your heart pumping. Try for a minimum of 30 minutes a day.

It is especially important that those people who have a family history of cancer make an effort to eat healthily and stay in shape if they want to make it to their twilight years cancer free.
