Slim Choc Ban

Written by Stuart Stevens | Wednesday, 17 January 2007

A quick warning all Ukmedix news readers regarding the sale of a so called breakthrough and radical type of chocolate bar called Slim Choc. This ridiculous snack that claims to have…wait for it….. “Negative calories” which means that the more you eat them the more you will lose weight.

The good news is however that the Office of Fair Trading has jumped in and banned all the adverts for this chocolate. What is worrying however is that there is a market out there for this type of product and people honestly believe that they can lose weight with some untested and unregulated weight loss supplements.

The Slim Choc that was to be sold for about £40 for a six-week supply even claimed that it would target specifically fat and cellulite preying in the insecurities of women all over the UK. Other claims were that you could lose almost 10 kilos in 3 weeks with no diet or exercise which apart from being completely fanciful would be dangerous if it was true.

At Ukmedix we like to bring to your attention these stories and cases for the simple reason that they highlight the way that people will prey on the insecurities of obese and overweight people in order to make money and they also show that these unscrupulous weight loss supplement manufacturers and marketers actually do good business with useless products.

The vast majority of weight loss supplements have not been tested clinically like proper weight loss drug such as Acomplia, Reductil and Xenical. They are also worrying because gyms and health shops that claim they are natural and therefore harmless often sell them. But just because something is natural (like caffeine for example) does not mean that it is perfectly good for you.

We advise that you should always consult with a doctor before you take a diet supplements and you should know exactly what is in them before using them.
